lug nuts (open ended or close ended?)

ok i am thinking of getting new lug nuts badly. cuz i have been rolling with the stock lug nuts on my rotas for quite some time now. and so i decided on some Zenki Forged Nuts and i wanted to know what is the difference in the open ended nuts and the closed ended?what i want to know is what are the pros and cons of open/close ended lug nuts? cuz i hear that some people take em off during the winter. is it because of waterr getting into the thread and rusting it or wat?

Yeah, you can get junk and water inside the nut. Thats why most people prefer closed ended ones. They make the open ones because some racing governing bodies require them.
Its unlikely the studs will rust, but cleaning junk off of them is a pain.
I honestly prefer the closed ones.

STOCK lug nuts are shaped like a circle. They are inappropriate for aftermarket wheels.

Aftermarket wheels use wedge shape lug nuts.

Zenki's are only sold as open end.
Ray's Eng. nuts are closed ended among others, but those I know for sure.

They're technically called conical tapered nuts, and yeah, AKA Acorn but when you see nuts called Acorn lugnuts these days they're usually for muscle car rims. Make sure you always make sure the lugnut threads are 12x1.5mm before you buy em.

I can't say, I had zenki's on my car for 4 hours then sold them and bought the rays nuts... which have been on and off the car no less than 20 times this year already, they're durable as hell and hold their torque. My only advice is don't lose the key, I've already bought 2 replacements this year at $28 a piece (one is a long story, one was a T-storm after an autocross, it just got left behind)

so with the rays lug nuts its like you have a lock lug nut in each wheel right? cuz i bought some $13 wheel locks at kragen and if i get the rays lug nuts then i dont have a need for these kragen wheel locks right? it says on this one website that it is a 7 sided lug nut that uses a special key to use with them(HEHE i think i just answered my own question)

Yah, rays come in sets of 20, 4 of them are 7-sided, slotted key nuts.
