Drag Racing on Stock Steelies

Ive been trying to get an answer to this question in the RACE FORUMS but no one seems to know which would be better. So I leave up to you guys the tire experts. Here it is...
I have the stock firestones on my car and was wondering what would be better for drag racing for traction, the 2 balder tires which are on the front, or the 2 less bald tires which are on the rear. Should i put the rear ones up front next time, or leave the balder ones on the front.
I;ve tried searching but have found it difficult since its a very specific question. Any input or opion is appreciated. thanks

Given the firestones, I don't think it really matters. My guess would say the ones with more tread, since i'm assuming the bald ones have been burned out on a few times and are probably harder. Honestly though, Id just use softer tires.

Ahtasham is an unknown quantity at this point
I would probably put the 'less balder' tires on the front.

Yes they are balder because those are the ones ive used the last few times at the track. But one argument is that because they are balder, they have more contact area. But because they are worn from racing, they must have lost stickiness correct (not like there was stickiness to begin with on these plastic firestones). Still not sure what to do...

Use the rear tires. Why would the fronts be better, sure you have more contact area? But no traction to use it. So its useless.

This is true, you have more tire touching the ground, but because of Heat cycleing, that rubber on the ground is much Harder and probably grips less then the non-Bald, Not as heat cycled rears.... now if you had some firestoned that you Shaved to 0 tread, then your train of thought would be right. (Because the tires wouldnt have been heat cycled)

Hmmm that did not even cross my mind Zzyzx. That makes total sense. I will put my rears on the front and hopefully break into the 15's with some more weight reduction and better 60 ft times. Thanks guys
