Importance of brake fluids/lines?
Hi everyone,
I just bought a pair of new Brembo blanks and Axxis pads (after reading countless threads and suggestions) in order to improve the braking performance of my civic.
My question is while I'm installing the rotors and pads at the shop, should I bother asking for changing the brake lines and fluids? My car has less than 10K kms, so it's fairly new, including the lines and fluid. Will changing the lines and fluid improve the brakes? Or there wouldn't be any difference since my car is still quite new? Or should I just install the rotors/pads and forget about the lines/fluids?

Well this has been covered before, make sure you search next time, but since you are new, there is no point to switch to steel braided lines. They wont really do much on our car since our lines are pretty new. Now it would be a good idea to have them bleed the brakes since they have to push in the piston in order to fit the new pads in there. But if they dont need to do that, then you dont need the brake fluid changed. It all depends on how your brakes feel after you have the new ones installed. If they feel squishy, then bleeding the brakes will be a good idea.

Steel braided lines will always make a difference even if the car is new. They aren't as soft and squishy as the rubber lines. Although they don't necessarily aid in braking they increase peddle feel for better stops. You can get better brake fluid if you want but it isn't necessary unless you are boiling the stock stuff by driving hard or racing.
