Opinion on rotas...
So what's everyone's opinion on rota rims? Are they good
or sh!tty
. I know they're cheaper rims so i'm not sure if they'll stand up to the potholes around town. I don't wanna sink money into rims to have them bend in a week.

i hear the rota's will shatter if you get into an accident....but how would you get into an accident where your wheel will be affected? maybe sliding around in a parking lot, but then every wheel thats not forged will probably shatter.

That's the ONLY case i've ever heard of a rota even being damaged, and given the situation, i'd imagine it's acceptable considering there was nothing left of the car.

I should have gotten them instead of the Motegi's. They have more quality certification than American Racing (Makers of Motegi) commonly seen at Sears Auto Center.

Rotas are popular because where else can you find a 13LB 15X7 for 110 a piece? Or a 11.8LB 15X6.5 for $100? Sure you could go for a 9.8LB 15X7 from SSR, but then it would cost you $300 each. Is 2 LBS worth $200?
Yes, it's an Acura EL

I had Rota Subzeros before. They kicked ***. If I were to get 18" rims, they'd be 18" Rota Subzeros. Rotas are a kickass light rim. The company themselves used to make rims for other companies.

never had a problem with potholes but just make sure you get enough rubber on there and you wont have a problem, i just hit my first curb while back really hard and i thought i was dead meaning bented the rim or something but no the tire saved my life and there is only about an inch scrath where the coating rubbed off

AFAIK, they're still manufacturing for OEM equipment wheels.

"Well, I slid into a curb at 20mph or less (brakes locked up in the rain, taking a corner at 25mph), and the wheel just frickin shattered, Im gonna write them to see if they have had problems with these but I doubt Ill get any response. Luckily the wheel shattered though, or there would have been more damage. Damage thus far:
1 Rota C10 Wheel shattered
Shattered POS C-West Knockoff Fiberglass front clip(have new bumper waiting at paint shop)
Bent lower control arm and upper control arm ($70 to fix)
In the pics the bent control arm is on top."
^^Yur talkin about this one. I remember this.....Not 100mph....^^

^^ still, a car sliding at say 15mph easily has enough kenitic energy to Bend/crack/shatter any wheel... Especially considering there was enough force to bend the control arms on the car.
If you think any wheel would have survived that impact....

im using a setup of 16" circuit 8s, with toyo t1-s' and theyre great. i wouldn't say they're actually strong, because i know for a fact they aren't. but the price is right. you can achieve a nice look with knock off prices, why the hell not?
