Rep Power: 0 Motegi Lugnuts --- how to remove them?
I have recently purchased a used honda civic with Motegi MR3 wheels.
Being my first car with aftermarket wheels, I didn't realize that the lugnuts weren't "standard". That is, a normal tire iron won't take them off because (A) they're shaped different and (B) those little holes that the wheel has doesn't seem to allow any normal socket (though, it doesn't really look like a socket is the right shape either) to fit.
So, is this a NORMAL thing with aftermarket wheels? Is there some kinda of lugnut "key" (like the ones on locking lugnuts) that I need to purchase from somewhere? Or is there some tool that I'm terribyl unaware of for this application?
I'd really like to not pay a stinkin' garage to take my wheels off every time I need to do some work on it.
Many thanks in advance
(oh yeah, it dawned on me that the lugs may not be from motegi at all.... perhaps they're even aftermarket! ACK! Hope this doesn't make this MORE difficult or require me to get them taken off at a shop and replaced with new ones..... grrrr)

Rep Power: 0 Well, right after my post, I found:
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...hlight=lug+nut
Which unfortunatly hints at me needing to figure out what kind of lugnut is actually on there. I'll post a picture soon so if anyone can tell me if I'm in for a beoootch of a time.
Thanks for the quick reponse Mr.Modify.

Rep Power: 0 Roger that. Already shot them an email. We'll see.
Most likely it's a custom lugnut, not Motegi's. I'll check with a local big tire shop to see if they have a tuner adaptor... or if they can get them off an I pick up a new set.

Rep Power: 294 Those look like gorilla lugnuts. I have a set & from what ive seen they seem to all have the same pattern other than the wheel locks. Just go to any small* wheel shop & ask them for a gorilla lugnut key, it should only cost like a dollar. Make sure you test fit it though.
*note: small...as in, not discount tire or pep boys, they will try to assrape you.
