wheel trouble
i just replaced the wheels on my civic and got some 17's....
after they were put on i noticed that whenever i reached a speed of
60 or over the steering wheel would start to shake a bit....
what do i need to do to fix that?.....rotation?...alignment?...

I would get the rebalanced first then try the rings. i don't think our car really needs the rings, but it is nice to have them.

you dont need them rebalanced, my **** does it when I go about 60 and over, just had new tires put on and balanced and still does it. It is common in this car.

Its common? You sure? I've got 3 sets of wheels with 3 different kinds of tires, balanced by 3 different places on 3 different balancing machines, none of which have any issue with shaking the car.
Something has to be off center or rotating out of balance to cause a shake. So either the axles are out of whack, which I doubt is the case, or something is wrong with the wheel end of things. Either the rim/tire isn't balanced correctly or you don't have a hubcentric ring in there and the wheel isn't centered on the hub, causing the car to move up and down as it rolls down the road.
What kind of wheels are these? Something tells me that'll help get to the bottom of this.....

did you torque them to specifications? i just changed my rims out to my stocks and i reach well over 60 on the freeway and no shaking. I think you should have them torqued. JUST MO

they are called hub centric rings. They go between the rim and the brake assembly to help with vibration. they fill an open space between the two.

get them rebalanced at a better place. They should use electronic, pinpoint balancing. Places like firestone/bridgestone don't do it accurately enough sometimes.
^^^yeah, i was suspecting they weren't balanced that well, but the vibrations are not extremely violent and don't impact my handling in any way...it's just feels slightly awkward at times. i'll have them check that out. thx.
Here's a tip...
If you don't have hub centric rings on aftermarket wheels, torque them while they are still in the air. Have a friend hit the brake while you torque.
They're probably just out of balance though.
