Arrow locking lug nut interest??

i dont have locking lug nuts and ive seen many people here who had their wheels stolen. i want to see how many ppl here are looking to buy some lug nuts so a vendor could possibly see the interest and hook us up with a GB. ive been looking around on the internet and really liked the Kyokugen M12 x 1.5 black or silver locking lug nuts. www.urbanimport.com has them on their site for $47.00 check it out and leave a response and hope that someone can give us a deal.

You talking about those 7 sided things? Those are pretty easy to steal... all you gotta do is hammer a 12 point socket on to it and turn it off. Its a pretty well known fact that the nuts are pretty soft metal. Besides, you can't use those on stock wheels. Honda locks are like $24 and made my McGard, and McGard locks for aftermarket wheels are about $30. Thats really all you need if you just want to lock them on. No need for fancy lugnuts. If you're looking for light and locking, you need to go for Ray's Nuts ($135). They've got a non symmetric and slotted 7 side nut that you can't get a 12 point socket to grab onto.

nice thanks for the info. so i guess locking lug nuts are as usefull as thoes black front end auto bras. i guess the only way to protect your wheels is to park it where you can see it and pack a big Boom Stick.

i noticed that the rays nuts are made of "duraluminum" im guessing its still aluminum and easy to bend. i found some other nuts that are made of cold forged steel. so can they still pound a 12 sided socket onto it?

The wall on the Rays nuts is considerably thicker than the krapokugens. Somewhere on the web, someone did an impact test on the Rays nuts... I'll have to find it... they did almost as well as steel ones.
The steel cylindrical locks like the Mcgards are good and bad.
They are the safest way to lock them on. Since there's no sides to the outer profile theres nothing for a socket to grab on. But, they tend to be heavy because they're larger than a standard nut, and if your rims are light enough and the locks differ enough in weight from your lugnuts, you can throw the rim out of balance.
The lock is really just a casual deterrent anyways. If someone really wants your wheels... There's lots of readily available Diamond or Nitride coated drill bits that would eat right through them, and Dewalt makes some pretty quiet cordless drills.

I have a set of black Kyokugen lug nuts. though I didn't get them for anti-theft, but for being light weight and relitivly cheep. The only time they are on the car is when my race wheels are on the car.

They have issues, as in if they are over torqued (as wheel shops are prone to do) then it can damage the Key and make it hard to install/remove them. I never torque mine past 72 Ft/lbs as you get twards 80 Ft/lbs the tendency to get the nut stuck in the key increaces. as far as a deterent, well they work as well as any wheel lock. Yes you can slam a 12 face socket on to them, but you'd most likely destroy the socket, so you'd need 16 sockets to steal all of the wheels...... the real trick is where would you keep the key where the theif wouldnt find it. Best spot is not in the car.

just ordered some locking lugs because its gettin closer to summer. http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/me...tegory_Code=L1

considered boilermakers advice about someone slammiing a socket over the lugs to steal the wheels but i just realized that theres no way a socket will fit between the lugs and the wall of the holes. if i cant use my factory lugs on these wheels theres no way somene can manage a socket to fit in. Thanks for the advice tho man!

Shops over-torquing? Scratches? Where on the rims or the key? What a good number to torque them at exactly without scratching?

All of this would help because I plan picking up some rims soon. I just feel as though I'm lacking the details here.

All I did was buy two different sets of tuner lugs from two different auto parts stores. One has a star pattern and the other has a 6 sided pattern, and while both are generic keys it will take that much longer to get my wheels off since there are 2 different types of lugs on each wheel.
