I Think I Need New Brakes Pllz Help!
My brakes screech in the mornings when i brake for the first few times then the screeching goes away. My e-brake doesnt brake as wheel. I know i might neeed new brakes , but what else do i need when changing brakes? I read something about resurfacing the rotors or something but some people said its cheaper to buy new slotted rotors or something then to pay someone to resurface stock rotors. What are the best brakes to buy and what else i should buy when changing my brakes, i want brakes that dont dust so much i hate having to clean my rims every other day. Thank You
PS: dont tell me to search cause i already did. Dont really know what i am looking 4.

One question: how moist is it where you live? if there is a lot of moisture in the air, then when your car sits, the rotors rust a bit over night. in the morning when you use the brakes for the first few times the brakes them selves scrape off the rust, some times causing a squealing sound.
ok, one more question: have you ever had the E-brake adjusted? rear brakes dont wear down nearly as quickly as the fronts, so if the e-brakes takes more pressure to set, then you may just need to adjust the cable.
Hers my recomendation. Get the brakes checked out at one of the local shops (many do a free brake inspection) once you know how much of the pads are left then you can figure out what you need to do.
If you do end up needing new brakes, more then likely you will not need to replace the rotor. Just the pads. For pads I'd reccomend a Ceramic base pad, rather then OEM orgainc base. (Akebono ProACT Ceramic Pads, Satisfied Pro Ceramic Pads would be good as well as AEM/nissin ceramic pads. there are others that your local shop may have)

ohh ok, well i live in northern jersey so we get snow, rain all that ish, and no i never adjusted my e-brake, my e-brake goes like all the way up, not like one of my friends whos e-brake goes up like 4-5 clicks and that it.
big dog, ur in the same boat as me, cept i know i'm fine. Like zzyzx said, the screeching is the rust that formed during the time ur car was parked. I get that too in the winter (havent noticed it when it rains in the summer). And I also had my ebrake adjusted. I didnt ask Honda to, but when I took my car in for like a 16k km checkup they just did it. Now I'm at a 32k km checkup and my ebrake needs to be readjusted again. When I take it in, I'm just going to remind them to make sure it gets done. So ur problem free mate
