Adding 17 inch wheels PLEASE HELP

guys i know this is a dumb post but i really need your help, im planning to add a set of motegi ff5 17 inch wheels with nitto neo gen 205-40/17 inch wheels. My question is if i add these without dropping my ride will the fender gap be as bad as with the stock wheels????? I dont want to drop my car because the benetfits dont outwiegh the risk. Anyone that can help with this post thank you

wow so many posts about rims with no drop. it will probably be higher btu the gap shouldn't be as bad!

edit: actually now that i think about it it might stay the same.

might stay the same?? how?? because the wheels i have on my car are 14's its a DX 2001 i thought it would at least close the gap a little. But if it does stay the same do you think it will look like a monster truck?

why wouldn't ya want to lower it ? what's the problems you think you will have? On a civic with no drop and rims it just doesn't look right IMO.

alright someone told me if i lower my car i will need these items to make it ride a little smoother. Camber Kit, New shocks and struts, and a really decent allignment. Also i live in maryland and the roads out here arent exactly smooth some are really rough also it snows during the winter like now we are having some really bad snow storms but thats really the reason why.

civicvtec1ps is just really nicecivicvtec1ps is just really nicecivicvtec1ps is just really nicecivicvtec1ps is just really nicecivicvtec1ps is just really nice
LX=185/70/14
Radius=24.25in
New Tires=205/40/17
Radius=23.46in

Speedometer reading with New tires is 3.25% too fast.
Wheel would look nasty with out drop. Please re-consider.
Wrong Forum.

Moved.
Take a look at Hayame Fullcoilovers. Cost 650 shipped.

i had 14 inch wheels... switched to 17 and the fender gap was almost identical im rollin 205-40-17 rubber. i think you would be good with a 1"- 1.5" drop. it would look better than stock height, wouldnt have to worry bout all that other suspension stuff as much (but should still address the issue sometime down the road suspension is important).

Well okay first off what was said is true somewhat:

1) you don't need a camber kit for any drop but if you don't want your tires to get ate up and have less tread on one side then the other then you will need one. But if you drop it something like 1.50 you should be okay with the tires, but it's always recommneded to get a camber kit but not neccessary. Right now i have ground control coilovers with about a 2.25 to 2.50 drop with no camber kit on 215/40/18's with a lil camber negativity but im not worried abnout it cause imma get new tires anyways.

2) You won't need new struts but as for shocks you don't need them but ike i said there recommended, because basically the whole load of the car is gonna blow them eventually becuase it's lowered and will cause a bouncy ride but that's with any springs or sleeved coilovers. you could get True coilovers though that come with the shocks and springs and will allow you to adjust up and down and even some come with a damper adjustability. true coilovers should help with the bouncyness!

3) and yea a Alignment doesn't need to be done neither but it is recommended ( i didn't get one but should be done though but i think it's a waste of money but that's just my IMO )
