17" tire sizes

ok, probably by the end of the summer ill need to replace the tires on my 17" wheels. as of now they have 215/45-17 tires on them. ive been looking at replacing them with tires that are a little wider, so my question is: will any of these tires rub with stock suspension?

225/45-17
225/40-17
235/40-17

i doubt the 225/40-17s will, and the same with the 225/45-17s, but if i can stuff 235/40-17s in there that would be great. also, if the 235/40's dont rub, will they fit on a 7" wide wheel?

thanks

AZNRACR is on a distinguished road
the 235-40's are what a couple of guys at Discount Tire recommended for my wheels and I believe they are 7" wide. Just check with a couple of tire places and see their opinions on it. I wish I would have gone wider, I only have 205-40's

Yeah the ride on my 215/45 is really good a lot louder then stock and rougher but its not bad. Oregon roads suck really bad, they need to outlaw studed tires for one thing those ruts in the highways are hidious. I have to stradle right or left of them to get less noise or more comfy of a ride.

yeah, my plan is to see how much the extra 10-20 mm width helps grip, if i dont see much of an improvement ill go back to the 215s.

also, i didnt notice much of a ride quality reduction from my Kumho 712's. im very happy with them, they arent real noisy either

thanks

anyone else wanna comment?
