18" rims, good to go?
18" rims, good to go?
I have a 2003 civic ex 2 door, and have been looking around for rims the past couple weeks. I found some 18" motegi racing rims that i really like, but have seen 18's on civics just like mine and the tires are super thin and basically almost scraping the wheel well and look a little risky. My question to you guys is, are 18"s too big and not worth any problems they may bring, such as hindering acceleration and/or speedometer calibration.
Motegi rims can run a little heavy thats why I didn't get them. But if you stick with a 215/40/18 you will lose a little mileage and have some cushion. But I would rather lose then gain mileage anyday. I am running 215/45/17 and I wish I would have got the 215/40/18 that look is just plain sick.
i like 17's because it's an in between size that doesn't look bad. i look at it this way... i've seen people with the oem 15" stock alloys with a drop and it doesn't look bad at all, and your going two inches up above the 15's. not to mention tires will be cheaper, and you'll have a little more tire. 18's look to big on the vics i've seen, unless your going for show. but hey, to each his or her own.

i have 215/35/18 and i love them and so do potholes,if i had to do again id get 40 instead of 35, they seem to get bent allot easier than 17's but i love the 18 look. 19 def tooooooooooooo big looks goofy!!
well it depends on how much u want to drop that vic, with my 215/40/18s I still have about a 2 1/2 inch gap, so u can easily drop it 1 1/2 inch and still be fine. I didn't drop mine, it's not like I need a kidney transplant, my kidneys hate me already for them 18s.
wow i didn't even know 215/45/18s fit, they look great man...a question though, for those of us that don't want to get it lowered (me), was the wheel gap still the same as with 40s? like 2 inch to 2 1/2 gaps? thnx

ya i know i seem to be the first one that i know of... to do it cuz i allways get pms about "man every one said those tires are to big with a drop" and people allways come up on the street and say stuff.... umm about the wheels with out a drop I put 18s on my ex ex's civic ill see if i can find pics and it brought the car up a little as did mine (and i have a drop) my sug to u would be get a drop but get the smallest drop (.75) i think they make i am not sure...that way u keep ur stock hight and close the gap you know what i mean? and thanks for the comp
Dam I did not know that 19s would fit on a civic. I'm going all show I have a 03 civic and trying to keep my warranty for as long as possible I'm looking at these 18 chrome spinners now I think I will sell my carbon fiber hood and pay the extra money get 19s cause I don't think that chrome and carbon fiber go good together
