18" rims, good to go?

I have a 2003 civic ex 2 door, and have been looking around for rims the past couple weeks. I found some 18" motegi racing rims that i really like, but have seen 18's on civics just like mine and the tires are super thin and basically almost scraping the wheel well and look a little risky. My question to you guys is, are 18"s too big and not worth any problems they may bring, such as hindering acceleration and/or speedometer calibration.

Motegi rims can run a little heavy thats why I didn't get them. But if you stick with a 215/40/18 you will lose a little mileage and have some cushion. But I would rather lose then gain mileage anyday. I am running 215/45/17 and I wish I would have got the 215/40/18 that look is just plain sick.

GET 18's!!

I regret getting 17's. At the time I thought, well these are practical, etc. but now I want 18's really bad. Just do 18's the first time.

i like 17's because it's an in between size that doesn't look bad. i look at it this way... i've seen people with the oem 15" stock alloys with a drop and it doesn't look bad at all, and your going two inches up above the 15's. not to mention tires will be cheaper, and you'll have a little more tire. 18's look to big on the vics i've seen, unless your going for show. but hey, to each his or her own.

Yep no upgrading on wheels and tires for me on my civic. Trade this in when I get the chance, and get the accord with 19's hehe.

I have 18s and don't want 19s, 18s are just right, and yes get the 215/40/18 tire size, it will help and no problems with it touching the wheel wells.

well it depends on how much u want to drop that vic, with my 215/40/18s I still have about a 2 1/2 inch gap, so u can easily drop it 1 1/2 inch and still be fine. I didn't drop mine, it's not like I need a kidney transplant, my kidneys hate me already for them 18s.

Dam I did not know that 19s would fit on a civic. I'm going all show I have a 03 civic and trying to keep my warranty for as long as possible I'm looking at these 18 chrome spinners now I think I will sell my carbon fiber hood and pay the extra money get 19s cause I don't think that chrome and carbon fiber go good together
