Rep Power: 0 Adding Rims to my civic, how will this affect it?
Im adding 225/45/17 to my civic and on the tire calculator page it says that this compared to factory equipped tires is 1.93% too SLOW what effect will this have on my car besides my speedometer reading that percent slower than im actually going???
I saw another topic (is it my wheels or my civic?) where the guy said w/his rims he was getting horrible gas mileage but his car was 3.25% too FAST
if he was too fast and im coming up short whats the opposite effect of his poor gas mileage??? improved mileage????
also i was contemplating 215's which w/the calculator says its only .64% slower. am i better of w/these just since its closer to factory gear/ratio and gas mileage
thanks anyone for the help

Rep Power: 0 A little, it will still be stiff but not as bad with the 45 sidewall. You can always move up to 18's too, that will fill up the fender well nicely, and use a 215/40-18 tire.

Rep Power: 0 To be quite honest with you I had 17" rims with Nitto NT-555 205/40-17 tires on my 7th gen EX coupe before I bought my 18-inchers.(they were from my 6th gen coupe) The tire is definately way too small of a sidewall with out a drop or in some cases even with a drop. It looks kinda odd actually. I think you will be happy with the 215/45-17's though, you will have an accurate speedometer reading, accurate milage reading, and a less of a chance of denting a rim on a pothole or bump with the extra sidewall. It won't look that bad.

Rep Power: 788 If you get bigger rims, your acceleration will go down from the added weight and rotational mass. The ride will also be bumpier.
