I just installed ProStop II Rotors, and EBC Greenstuff brake pads. The problem is that even with the brake fully released they are in contact with the rotors and feel like they are scraping. Is this normal? What's going on?

Yup. At least I think it's totally normal because I've got the same "problem". The brakes aren't engaged on the rotors. The pads are just kind of resting on them, with just a tad of contact. The noise you're hearing is because the brakes are of a higher metallic composite than then OEM brakes. It's totally normal and don't sweat it.

Mine did that for a while. finally the settled. Plus the slots and the new composit of the pads changes the way they feel. If you are unsure make sure the dust boots aren't touching anything that moves. That might be a problem too.

The pads are always in light contact with the rotors. Helps keep the rotors dry in wet weather.

I was thinking....On the box for the Greenstuff pads it said not to use the original shim, the one from the original brakes. So when I installed the new pads i just put the pads in without reusing that shim. Could that be a possible problem?

i think the shim you are talking about is the thin metal piece on the OEM pad. The EBC ones don't need that.

I'm about to do my brake install on sunday (ProStop rotors and EBC greenstuff).. and advice before i begin? I'd be delighted if anyone share their experience, making note of anything that was complicated to do or if you found a shortcut of some kind

YEah that little screw in the middle of the rotors is a pain in the *** to get out!! if you have a screwdriver that fits, hammer it in a little to help get it out. Also, if you strip one, they aren't necessary to have. The lugs should hold it on fine. IM me with any questions bro.

You need a PH3 Phillips Head screwdriver to get the sucker out. Take a ball-pein hammer and put the ball end on the screw and smack the hammer with another hammer to loosen up all the rust.

Also, you only need to remove the lower bolt from the caliper. Just loosen the top bolt and rotate the caliper upwards and slide the caliper out, towards the strut. Super simple stuff. I took pictures of the install when I did it a few weeks ago, but I think my digicam ate the pictures.

Yeah, it's a really simple installation, I just got done doing it myself. If the phillips head screws that hold the rotor on are really stuck, you can get a very small slothead screwdriver or a punch, put it at the end of one of the slots in the screw head, and tap it with a hammer to loosen it. I've seen mechanics do it that way before.

Don't know if I described that good enough... hopefully it gets the idea across.
