Question New Coupe Tire question

Hey all -

Brand new member, hi everyone. My 2003 silver EX coupe is all of 11 days removed from the dealer and I'm thinking of playing with it. Just a quick tire queston to start: what is from experience the best looking and best fitting tire size for the coupe? Someone told me 16s, but can anyone get more specific? Any help appreciated.

Mike

P.S. - If anyone is wondering about the name at all, just think of Full Metal Jacket.

First of all, I am assuming you have an '03 EX. This would imply that the have 03EX/99-00Si rims on your car. Those lovely wheels are only available in a 15 inch diameter. So the whole "16s" thing is outta the question. My personal reccomendation for tires would have to be a nice set of Nitto NT-450 205/50R/15. Thats what I got for my '02 EX. These are not only great functioning tires, but awesome looking as well. The tread design is sexy. And boy does it work well in the rain. But anywho, nice to meet you sir. Welcome to 7thgencivic.com!

Talking Re: Tires

Amit -

Thanks very much - so I guess it's safe to say that aftermarket or not, 15 is the accepted size? I almost have no problem keeping the stock 14s, it's just that I hate the stock wheel covers. Thanks for the help and the welcome - now off to other forums for other stuff.

Mike

wait, did u want tires? or rims? dont leave 7thgen just yet man. u got me confused.
if its rims u want, go with whatever size u prefer. thats based on personal preference.
and if u bought an ex, it should have 15 inch wheels, NOT 14s with covers.
alot of ppl here like 18s or 19s, most do 17 inch rims. if ur going for performance, ppl stick with 16s and 15s.

It matters what you want to do with it. Are you looking into performance or show? Some people have two sets of wheels to fit their needs. Its all up to you.

205/50/15 is WAY TOO SMALL if the car is not considerably dropped. Id be looking at 195/60 or 205/55 to keep the car looking decient at a stock height. Using 205/50 is going to open up about another 3/4" of fender gap.
If you want new rims all together and are concerned about going fast, I suggest 15", 16" or if you want fast and looks, a set of ultra-light 17's (less than 16 lbs). So use the internet and www.wheelspecs.com and make sure you look at weights before you make a final call.

I like a blend of performance and looks....this car is my first try at doing anything not-stock in any sense of the word, and I'm being really cautious...don't want a rice rocket at all (I saw that you can get a clear hood to show off the engine bay and nearly puked) and I don't want a stock look either. I was thinking 17's the more I'm chewing on it.
