I'd love to save some serious $$ and get these... nearly every rating I've seen has been very positive. The only other candidate is the Potenza RE950. Anyone have any first-hand experience with these?

I had Potenza RE950s on my old Saturn. I switched when I got bigger wheels to Toyo Proxes. I will swear by the 950. It was phenominal in dry weather and you could not hydroplane them in the wet. There was always a place near an underpass on the highway near me where water would pile up and I would have to do 45 or less on stocks to go through it. With the Potenzas I cracked through it at 70+ no problem, not even a flinch. It seriously feels like they almost have better wet traction than dry. I had them for a summer season with no squealing, low noise, and great ride and handling at speed. I also had them for the rainy slippery leave fall season and they were ridiculously good at holding the road on corners and startoffs. And in the snow they did slip a little when you gave it too much throttle but they held very well. I used them in up to 3-6" of snow here in Southwestern CT and they worked great to get me to and from school on plowed and unplowed roads.

I am going to get a set of 215-45-17s on my Civic when I get the wheels in spring. Tire choice is not an option, the RE950s are just ****ing sick. My brother had them on his 2000 Jetta and loved every second of them over his Michelin Energies.
