good sticky tires

My actual tires are kinda crappy and I was thinking about an upgrade, as soon as these wear out. I need some good 215/45/17's, but I'm not sure what brand should I go with. Any suggestions? Pls...I'm on a tight budget so no Z rated rubber.

If you're on a tight budget then why do you want super soft tires? They'll wear out really fast and you'll have to replace them.

I guess if you're not able to spend the money you could go with Falken's maybe...or Dunlop maybe.

I dunno, I always suggest Michelin and BF Goodrich but they're not cheap.

Yokohama AVS ES100
Best bang for buck deal you can get on tires.

He doesn't want soft rubber. He says he doesn't want Z rated tires. I'm assuming you want a harder more durable compound. Problem is what do you currently have? You don't want crappy tires, but you don't want Z rated tires.

Don't get nitto 450, b/c there very noisy. The 555 is a great tire, but will probably wear out fast. I've heard alot of good technology going into the neogen, but have no experience with them or haven't heard any one use them on their cars. Looks possibly promising though.

Falken 512 are nice, but not the smoothest tire. I think they need to be broken in, from my experience with them. I have 205/45/17 because 215s would rub.

I like the Yokohama ES100 b/c durable and sticky. If you want more performance and ppl to gawk at your wheels, the Paradas are my favorite. There not too bad either on wear.

If you are really into a good long lasting tire, the Kumho 711 are good, but i heard they make noise. The 712 are sticky, but may wear quick on you.

You're going to sacrifice performance for durability, but I guess you're probably looking for something in the middle. I think the Falken would be a good middle buy, same with the ES100.

What about the Kumho ECSTA KH11 series? tirerack has them for $91 each 215/45/17 and they have pretty good ratings. I don't think they are good for snow, Kumho is marketing this tire as a "summer" tire. I was thinking of getting these because I live in FL so I don't have to worry about snow.
hope this helps

Um the letter rating Like Z or ZR is their speed rating, it has nothing to do at all with tread wear or stickyness of the tire. Basically you want as high of a speed rating as you can get.

Treadwear will tell you a bit about the traction of the tire.
example:
Falken 512's have a tread wear of 360. and should last some where around 30,000 miles. I have them as my street tires and they are decent for an all season tire.

Falken Azenis Sports have a tread wear of 200, and with normal street use they should last some where between 10 and 15,000 miles.
As far as traction, they are amazing. and are easily one one of the Stickiest street legal tires on the market today (baring DOT legal R-compound tires like the Kumho Victoracer and the Hoosier A3S03).
In my class of autocross (STS) they and the Kumho MX are the top tires. Out performing the GFGoodrich g-force T/A KD in performance and price ($65 for a 205/50R15 vs $150 for a similar sized tire).

IF your looking at Decent performance tires, Check out the Kumho ECSTA supra 712 and the Hankook Ventus Sport K104, Yokohama AVS ES100 or other similar tire.
