On 2001-2005 Honda Civics LX and above, they have cruise control. I am adding this to my 04 VP edition. Where does the other side of the cruise control actuator wire go? I know it goes somewhere near the throttle body, but where exactly does it connect to?
The throttle bodies look the exact same between the VP and EX/LX versions of the 04 Civic. They have different part numbers, but literally look exactly the same. Will go to a junk yard later today to try to confirm this.

yeah, should be 2 spots for cables to attach to the throttle body rotor. It's been a minute since I touched a D17 throttle body, but I think the gas pedal attaches to the brass part of the rotor and the cruise control is like a black plastic part of the same rotor assembly?
edit: not plastic. and I think this is how it's set up (used a random pic I found on the internets). I think there's a groove on the bottom side for the wire to ride, just like you see on the top side for the gas pedal cable. It's been 4+ years since I've touched a D17 TB, so forgive me if that's incorrect
Grrrrrrr. The throttle bodies are not the same. The cruise control TBs stick out back towards the firewall more to accommodate the extra CC cable. So now I need to get a new or used TB. You also need a new clock spring from inside the steering wheel. The CC clock springs comes with the extra three wires you need for the cruise control set switch. Taking off the clock spring is a pain in the butt!
Riceboy, thank you for the picture! That confirms what I did earlier. You are right about the CC and throttle cables positions. CC cable is FWD of the throttle cable.
So another question, on the Haynes manual for the cruise control system, it says to connect the BLU/WHT wire from the cruise control unit under the dash to the VSS. That is the vehicle speed sensor, right? There are two of them on the car, the input and output, right? I need the WHT/GRN wire from the VSS to connect to the BLU/WHT wire of the cruise control unit. I checked the output speed sensor near the transmission dip stick and those wires were not WHT/GRN. I will check in input speed sensor tomorrow.
No, it's about $30, but getting to it is a pain because the cars are on blocks, and removing the air filter housing can be tough.
nah, shouldn't be hard, even with the cars on blocks. I'm kinda short (5'7") and was able to wiggle a 2008 civic's passenger side motor mount off with the car on blocks (and the fact it was the only motor mount supporting the engine). Yeah, the elevated position made it odd, but very doable. It was nothing a spare tire and scissor jack couldn't handle there. Sketch af? Hell yes. Did it work? Also hell yes.
Saw the WHT/GRN wire on the VSS. That's good news. I also tapped into the pink wire of the auto transmission select box near the passenger side front tire. I only have three more wires to hook up according to Haynes Manual, and two of them deal with the cruise control set switch on the steering wheel.
Question, is the ECM/PCM the same thing, which is located above the cabin air filter by the glove box?
So I hooked up and installed the cruise control set switch on the steering wheel, and then hooked up the GRY/RED wire and LT GRN/BLK wire to the cruise control box under the dash, and went to test it. It did not work, so kind of disappointed. I still have to hook up the BLU/ORG wire to the ECU/PCU, which I assume are the same thing, from under the glove box tomorrow. I hope that makes it work.
The CC switch lights up and all that, so that's good news!

The ECM/PCM are the same thing. It's located in behind the glove compartment. I'm hoping that one I connect the BLU/ORG wire to the PCM, the cruise control will work.
ECM - engine control module
PCM - powertrain control module
On a manual transmission I would call it an ECM since it really doesn't do anything with the trans. On an auto trans it controls both the engine and transmission. The module looks basically the same for both and mounts in the same spot.
You have to replace the old clock spring with one from an LX/EX. Once I did that, or at least connected wires between the CC set switch and the steering wheel column wires, it WORKED!
I had all the wires hooked up, but was not getting continuity between the switch wires before and after the clock spring in thw steering wheel. Once I connected those wires using ghetto rigged wires, it worked. Now to replace the clock spring so this is permanent.
Yeah, that's my problem too. I'm currently putting off doing a cable management job on my desk at home because I know I'll spend hours unplugging and routing everything. Luckily, all the wiring I've routed in my car was **** retentively bundled before or during install
