Mugen Replica Spoiler for 2011 Sedan
Mugen Replica Spoiler for 2011 Sedan
Hello,
First time post and I am thankful I found this forum. I am not new to Honda Civics. The first new car I bought was a 1996 DX and kept it for 21 YEARS. Yeah, I'm an old guy who loves Honda quality!! I recently purchased an 2011 taffeta white Civic EX sedan for my son that I am planning on giving to him for his birthday in a few weeks. Before I do so, I wanted to put a rear wing on it. My son is into big wings, so I purchased a pre-painted Mugen style one from Amazon. The box it was delivered in was damaged and quality of this thing was horrible with the mounting nuts just simply embedded in the thin plastic. No reinforced backing...nothing. Needless to say the mounting points were broke before I could even install it on the car. I am waiting on the return authorization from Ikon Motorsports to send this thing back. Do all of these types of non OEM wings share the same build quality? While I know my son will love the look of this wing on his car, I am worried that these wings won't stand the test of time or hold together at highway speeds. The last thing I want is for him to cause damage to another car or an accident if this thing breaks apart while he is driving. If anyone has any recomendations for this style non OEM wing from another company, please let me know
Thank you for your time,
Philip

Re: Mugen Replica Spoiler for 2011 Sedan
Don't know anyone who's had luck with knockoff spoilers. They've all been crap (never tried them myself; I personally think they're hideous). My suggestion would be to find a used OEM spoiler (not necessarily Mugen, maybe something like an RSX Type-R spoiler or maybe even the new Civic Type-R spoiler).

Thank you for your response Chezboat24. After my experience, I had a feeling that it would be challenging to find any knockoff brand that would be close to OEM quality. I'll probably just give the car to my son without the spoiler and strongly recommend that he go with something OEM.
Much appreciated.
Much appreciated.
