Hi guys,

I'm looking to purchase a Honda Civic roughly about 2008-2009.

I've done some research online and reports have suggested engine block cracking, interior rattling and clear coat failure as most common faults.

Not too concerned about the last two but the engine block cracking doesn't sound comforting to say the least.

Could any owners add to this list of common faults with Civic and things to look for when buying privately/from a dealership?

• driver's side visor issue. After a while, the plastic on the inside wears down/melts/something and doesn't stay up. There's a quick, but not so pretty fix that involved drilling 3 holes and running some bolts through it. I'll try and find pics of how I fixed my ex's
• Aux port goes out after some time. Only fix is to replace it. I gutted it and made it a USB port for the in-dash navi head unit I installed.

That's all I really remember. My ex is still one of my best friends, and that car is still trucking. Pretty sure it's close to 180k miles on the clock, original engine.
