ECM Problems

I have an 06 . The ecm is fried i believe. I ordered a used one and installed it, itll start now but dies right after. my guess is it needs to be programmed. only thing is that it doesnt match up with the old ecms bolt holes. do i need to order the correct one or can i just reprogram this one and run with it. (ive only got 400 bucks in this car i dont wanna spend extra money if i dont have to)
