D16Y7 to D16Z6 swap

I have recently acquired a wrecked 94 Civic EX with a good engine, and the engine in my 96 Civic CX has a blown HG; my idea was to swap the good EX engine with VTEC into my hatch. Does anyone see any issues with this? I assume I would need the computer from the 94, but is all the VTEC wiring there in my 96 just taped up? Or would it be a complete harness swap? I'm sure this is not a common swap, but I'm just looking to drive it for a bit until I decide if I want to do a K swap later or something else..... Thank you in advance!

Probably best to swap the harness, especially since you have both complete cars

Re: D16Y7 to D16Z6 swap

finally got around to doing the swap. I have fuel, I can hear the pump prime and visually see the fuel pressure gauge I installed on the filter, injectors can be heard firing and felt by touching them when cranking. I have spark, it cranks but doesn't fire. I never removed the distributor off of the head so it shouldn't be out of time, all of the marks were lined up when I installed the new timing belt. Anything anyone can recommend to check?

Re: D16Y7 to D16Z6 swap

I had a hard starting issue after replacing a head gasket

could try

-Removing spark plugs
-making sure the cylinders arn't flooded
-replace plugs
-hold gas pedal to the floor for maximum throttle position
-try to start

once mine fired up it was fine

swapped plugs, got nothing, put original injectors in (had ls injectors in) cranked up, a/f is off the gauge, will idle but surges when you give it any gas
