AC Condenser - 2005 Civic

Hello everyone!

My AC recently quit on me and had a diagnostic done at my Honda dealer. The mechanic told me that the AC condenser needs to be replaced and he gave me a $750 quote for Honda parts and service. The condenser by itself is $450 from Honda or else $300 for an aftermarket condenser...yikes!

I did some research online and found MANY other condensers, both used Honda condensers and new aftermarket condensers from $75 to $200.

Can anyone recommend to me a condenser that I should consider buying?

Are aftermarket condensers necessarily "bad"?

Some aftermarket brand include: TYC, Modine...

Any help would be great!

i would go with a used honda condenser. i almost never hear of those going bad tho, unless it sprung a leak from rock impacts. so long as the used one does not have any damages to the front, it should work fine. its just like a radiator for the refrigerant.

Ok cool...thanks a lot for your response. Sounds like a used Honda condenser sounds best. I'm going to look for some used ones now and post my results...
