if your civic won’t crank or anything but has battery power check the ground on the start if the ground on the start is bad the car will only start by bypassing the ground until it’s fixes atleast I figured out that it was the issue in my car after replacing my starter with 178000 miles on it and going strong my car is a 2002 Honda Civic Ex with the 1.7 vtec motor and once you change the ground it should work like normal couldn’t find anything on this so I figured I would post about it in case someone else is having this issue
