Does not start

Hi-

I have had similar problems and the fixes are getting quite frustrating. A few months ago car wouldn't start out of nowhere. I replaced the starter and it fired right up. Drove it for a few months and now running in to the same problem. New Battery, Cleaned grounds and Battery Terminal, replaced key (from Honda dealer) and ELD. This morning it wont start again. Its a manual so I pushed the car to try to drop the clutch. Almost started dropping the clutch, then tried to start the car and it fired right up. Could this be a ECU problem?? It seems to be something electrical because the rest of the car is running great. Running out of ideas. Mechanic rans a Honda scan on it and said there could be a problem with the ELD because he was gettting a code for that, replaced that and still having problems. Car just seems to randomly want to run. No issues once its running thought. Could it still maybe be and Alternator issue or ECU?

Thanks a ton for any help

Re: Does not start

You say no start, meaning? Do you hear the relays clicking? Does the motor turn over? This sounds like a common automotive issue, applicable to virtually all makes and models.

I'd be careful throwing parts at an issue like this, It’s easy end up with a bunch of worse-off aftermarket parts. Practically, the only parts you haven’t replaced are the ignition switch and the starter relay. I’d suggest doing some research.

The starter doesn't use the ECU, ELD, or the alternator to engage the flywheel.
No issues once it's running? That rules out the alternator. Otherwise, you would have issues like stalling and losing power at 70 mph, with a no-start condition afterwards because the battery was abruptly discharged.

The ELD references the ECU to increase or decrease the the output of the alternator. This isn't going to cause a no-start condition.
