Transmission Issue
Transmission Issue
Current situation is with my automatic 98 Civic EX with 240,000 miles. Few months ago driving home from work I noticed right away the gear shifts didn't feel the same. After about 20 minutes of driving I was going up a bridge and the car automatically almost red lined like it was in neutral and wouldn't go any faster. After about 30 seconds the check engine light started flashing. Once I reached the top of the bridge, I put it in neutral to coast down thinking ill put it back in gear at the bottom. However, the drive gear along with 2 and 1 did nothing but rev up. Had to tow it home to be safe. The next day I turned it on and drove a few miles with no issues. My question is, can it be a bad trans solenoid? The fluid was changed about 7k miles ago and is still red and in the normal operating range. I bought a used one and is ready to go in, but just want to be sure that the stock one is for sure no good. I would like to test all the solenoids before going any further. Don't want to spend money for a full rebuild when the car just is for going to work and home.
