Stripped Bell Housing Bolt Holes

Hey all. I bought an old '97 Civic LX for a good price with a blown out clutch. D16Y7 engine for whoever doesn't already know. I got it towed back to my place and waited for my new clutch kit to come in and got to work. On re assembly, I noticed the bell housing bolts were completely stripped and it looks like the previous owner used JB weld to hold the bolts in. Now my solution to this was to tap the bolt holes. I BELIEVE the bolts are M12x1.25x65. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. What is a good size to go up to that won't hurt anything? M13 is almost nonexistent I've found. Couldn't find them anywhere. My next thought was to go to 1/2 inch diamater and 2.5 inches long. Is this a good idea or do you all have any different suggestions for me. Thanks!

Re: Stripped Bell Housing Bolt Holes
Well I haven't got any feedback from ya'll yet, but I decided to tap the threads to an M14x1.5. This worked fine except the head of the bolt was a little too big and it was a pain to get them tightened down but I got it in the long run. So I got everything put back together and took it on a test drive. Everything went well until I went to put it in 3rd gear. It wouldn't grab, period. Sometimes it would but then it would just pop back out. The clutch is engaging and disengaging though so I'm not sure what the problem may be. Any help would be appreciated

Damn, it's probably too late now, but could you have helicoiled it so you could reuse the original size bolt?

Make sure to use brass bolts, like the OEM ones; aluminum and steal arn't good friends 😁.
