My Solution To Tranny Bad Imput Bearing

I have a cousin that`s worked on Honda`s for 35 yrs,he said on installing a imput bearing, their were some oil holes that tended to get clogged with junk from the bad bearing. He also said the job could be a real bear.
So,I found a used tranny from Advance salvage,$900 delivered,it has
51K.Toughh choice between it&rebuilt for $1150 for me.
I have a new clutch kit&cv driveshafts to install, mine are original @ 250K miles and still fine, but I thought I`d change at the same time, but these are Chinese.I`m wondering if I want to install a Chinese throwout bearing,it`s hard to get to,and I`ve had bad luck with Chinese wheel bearings. This is a
6th generation Civic.I don`t plan to do any burn-outs
Any thoughts on this?
regards,Dizz

I wouldn't. But that's just me. Why don't you just buy OEM replacements that you know are of better quality?

Of course you are correct, thinking at this stage of my Civic`s life it will suffice, and I sometimes gamble,I used all Honda parts on my engine rebuild 2 yrs ago.I may measure the original clutch&leave it as is,depending how long it takes me to pull it next week. Not really afraid of the cheap clutch&plate as much as the TO bearing.

Re: My Solution To Tranny Bad Imput Bearing

my "new" junkyard tranny arrived, picked it up today.it was really dirty, but lack of wear on the shift ros showed me it was low milage. While cleaning it up,I found that when they cut the linckage rod &support rod,it must have dropped to the ground&broke one of the threaded flanges off the casing. It won`t work without some fancy welding, and would be hard to do it right. Now I gotta try to return it.
I`ve had few good deals from junk yards, now maybe a rebuilt?
