2000 civic LX Assembled in Japan exhaust

I have a 2000 LX that was assembled in japan for the american market. The exhaust broke at my resonator pipe and I am wanting to order new exhaust from the cat back. I am noticing that there are kit that are saying they only got cars built on the USA amd wont fit cars assembled in Japan. I also noticed ot often says for Civic Lx I4 1.6 1588cc. I thought all d16y7 were 1590cc, it seems that there are actually 2 options, 1588 or 1590.

I suspect, but cant confirm, that USA assembled models are 1588cc, and japan assembled models are 1590cc?

What's the big difference in the exhaust between the two? Why wont they fit universally, and if I order one and it doesnt fit is it something I can mod easily like adjusting the length of the resonator pipe or something to make everything line up? Am I right about american models being 1588cc?

The 1590cc engine you’re referring to is the D16Y5, which came in the HX model. The D16Y7 is the 1588cc engine like you mentioned. Both engines came in USDM cars. Within a reasonable capacity, the engines are identical. There should be no differences in the exhaust.

Re: 2000 civic LX Assembled in Japan exhaust

Thank you for responding. I ended up ordering the 3 seperate parts listed below because the full kit wasnt available. If you look under the product details for the front down pipe and the muffle it will say 2000 civic lx 1590cc but if you look under the the product details for the resonator pipe it says 1588cc. When I search for my vehicle it gives me 2 options and says either i4 1588cc or 1590cc. I'm hoping these will be a direct bolt up.

I called a dealership apparently the manifold/converter are the same, and the resonator b pip is the same but the difference between the U.S. and Japan models is in the down pipe. They dont know what's different, but I'd imagine it cant be that much different considering the flanges would have to be the same if theres no difference between the manifold and resonator.

Are you implying that the exhaust from a d16y5 is identical to parts for a d16y7?

The sensors may be different, but dimensionally I can’t see how it’d be any different. They’re all 6th gen d16’s.
