I have a loud ticking noise coming from my 2000 civic ex head during warmup, had the valves adjusted, and ive sent it to two different shops. They both said its loud but its not gunna hurt the motor. They also dont know how to get it to stop without replacing the whole head. A friend has the same car and he has no tick. Any ideas how i can get rid of the noise? Im using 10 30w clean motor 76,000miles just that darn ticking drives me nuts!!

typical honda valve tick...if you know how to...try re gapping your valves

if not, rebuilding a head isnt that expensive...let alone finding another one...

why not get the valves re-adjusted. sounds like they arent adjusted properly.

Sounds like it just needs a valve lash adjustment. Not that hard to do if your machanically inclined. An honest mechanic should charge about an hour's worth or work. Do this before replacing the head.
