Key in ignition beeper keeps going without key in [solved]
Backstory - over the weekend someone tried to steal my civic. I have an extremely bad habit of forgetting the keys in the ignition. Thief turns out can't drive a manual but walked away with my keys. Lucky for me the lock cylinder was extremely worn out and the thief took the key out without locking the ignition so I was able to get a new lock cylinder installed. This is how I knew someone was in my car though because they didn't close the door and the key in ignition beeper was going off when I woke up a few hours later.
Title states the problem I'm having. I don't want to disable the feature as it helps deter thieves. Recently I've had to replace the ignition lock cylinder, took some doing but was able to get the locking pin and spring back into proper position, but now the chime doesn't turn off when I remove the key from the ignition. Closing the drivers side door makes the chime stop. I want to add an alarm to the car soon but with this problem I think it's going to cause me a headache. I think I found the "switch" but does not seem to have any moving parts, so I don't know if it's the right sensor or if I need to be looking somewhere else.

Well hopefully my bonehead moment can help someone else. This has to be the tiniest mechanical switch I have ever seen. Tip: remove the switch before attempting to replace the lock cylinder to avoid damaging it as it's very tiny and fragile
