I have been doing some thinking lately and was just wondering what the Golden state has to offer. How difficult are jobs and apartments to get out there? What is everyones opinion on where they live? Just wondering how you guys like it or may not like it, even though I may not move I am just curious. I am looking more towards the southern half of the state. Any input would be helpful. Thanks everyone.

some things to think about
car registration=expensive
car insurance=expensive
rent=expensive
general cost of living= expensive
other than that its cool
If you have a good job lined up then research the costs and go for it.

Cali is a great place to live. Just about anything you could possibly want... forest, snow, beach, desert, mountains, city, plains, whatever. Big state, diverse climates...
As far as disasters go, you get 1 earthquake every 10 years, and it's not a big deal at all. You get occasional fires that threaten a few houses in the middle of nowhere. No hurricanes, tornados, floods, snowstorms... all the stuff you see on the news somewhere else.
At least this is the way it is in the SF Bay Area, where I live. The weather is never forbidding, it stays pretty much between 40-90 all year long with an occasional exception. In other words you can expect the summers to be warm and the winters to be cool. The humidity is nothing compared to the east coast.
What's the catch? The catch is that other people realize this too, which is why our state is the largest in the US in terms of population. This means that prices go up Up UP, and the cost of living is the highest. It works both ways, in that the jobs pay the highest too, but still... look to pay anywhere from 800-1200 for an apartment in a suburb. Don't even think about getting a studio in a place like San Fran ($2k/month).
But California is still an awesome place

I'm also in Orange County, and overall it's a pretty nice place. Ten minutes of driving in any direction you'll find anything you could imagine, movie theatres, clubs, a job, whatever. However, that means we have hella traffic and pollution. Home prices are so high and growing that it makes for great investments but really hard to start out like I'm trying to do. 90+ degree weather most of the year sounds good if you don't mind always using AC in your house/apartment, but that gets expensive fast. So, if you can get a good job and afford it then go for it. As for me, I've lived here my whole life but I'm thinking about moving away next year. Good luck man.
