My 1998 Honda Civic DX was stolen and the steering column got bent so my mechanic told me I'll need to replace it.

My car does not have cruise control but I accidentally bought a second hand steering column with cruise control on eBay.

I compared the photos with a no-cruise listing and it looks like the one I bought have a extra switch and metal bolt.

Do I need to remove this bolt? Or do I tell my mechanic and let him figure it out?

I'm worried I bought the wrong thing and if it gets installed, it might turn on accidentally? My steering wheel does not have the cruise control buttons so I won't be able to turn it off.

Cruise control still will not function even if you have the buttons on the steering wheel. There are mechanical parts under the hood that are needed.

Someone else will have to respond about the extra part on your replacement column, I do not know.

Let the mechanic deal with it, it should be fine to install as is
