Question Hole in floor pan, freaking out

I ground a hole in my floor pan under the gas pedal with my heel (rust helped once it broke through.) It's bigger than a quarter. I have no idea how this is fixed, but it doesn't seem like a cheap fix. Hole in the carpet, hole an inch deep in the pan, etc. I just spent $1,300 during my inspection for rust work and a couple other things. Can someone tell me what this entails, and how I should approach my body shop to get it done right but the cheapest?

Cheapest is to fix it yourself, weld in new metal, seal it, paint it, and then get new or used carpet, plus maybe some floor mats since you wore through it before

Thanks, but I'm a 50 yo woman with arthritis. No welding for me, hah. I'll definitely get a floor mat. Maybe fill the carpet hole with epoxy after it's fixed? Can they patch the carpet, you think?

Only option is to replace. I wouldn't bother epoxying it, just cover it with the floor mat if you're not going to replace it. They'll have to pull the carpet back a fair bit when they weld.

Re: Hole in floor pan, freaking out

I patched a hole in the floor of my 2002's (hole was my fault) with a layer of fiberglass mat/resin above and below the hole (sandwiching the floor board). After the fiberglass hardened, sprayed the bottom with a few layers of plastidip. Never had a problem with that ghetto fix
