I own an '02 Civic Si. Noticed a fuel smell outside the car over the past couple weeks. Took it to a lift and saw evidence of small amount of fuel running down the fuel tank. I examined the top of the fuel tank by going through the back seat. I realized there is fuel resting on top of the fuel tank and on the fuel pump assembly. Looks like the fuel line connected to the fuel pump is corroded. I have not taken it to a mechanic yet. Just curious what could be causing the fuel leak? I want to say it's not an internal fuel pump component because the car engine starts fine and my fuel level has remained consistent. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Re: 02 Civic Si Leak on Top of Fuel Tank
Usually the plastic for the fuel pump assembly becomes brittle and develops cracks over time. The car is 18 years old. Just need to swap in a new assembly, not very hard to do. Try to get the fuel level as low as possible before doing the swap. And you will need to prime the system before you start the car afterwards
