Hi. I have honda civic 2007 automatic blue color. I have scraped out rust with 80 grade sand paper and then with wire brush. There is no more rust, no hole created or no loss of metal that I can see.
A) Do I still need to use Bondo body filler?
B) I can use any standard primer?
After sanding it down, using drill driver with a wire brush, still there are black spots. Do I need to remove these black spots also and get into metal or no? Sharing the pic. Thank you.
Thanks a lot for your help... I am cleaning this rust also. This rust so tough to remove. No matter how hard I try with 40 grit sand paper, periodically putting rust remover then sanding with 40 grit sand paper also using IKEA drill driver with wire brush, rush not getting removed. Any idea, how to deal with this rust?
Thanks for all the advice. Now, the rust is gone. There is a hole now. Inside of that hole and on the side there might be rust, how to fix that? spray WD40, or spray anything?
Hi. This is the rust under the jab corner. I cannot reach easily. I will use wire brush to take some rust and then can I use rust reformer (those coating), will it work?
Hi guys. Im done with rust removing and then bondo, prime, color, clear coating. But there is a problem. I painted with my masking tape on and now the paint hardened and I feel if I take off the masking tape it will peel off the nearby paint.
What I usually do is gradually remove the tape (like a few mm at a time) and respraying gradually to help blend. That'll help with any potential damage, but there shouldn't be. The match looks decent at least.
But yeah, typically you'd want to remove the paint during the drying process, not after.
1. I have clear coat peeling off. If I use 800 grit sand paper on the clear coat (saw on youtube videos), wont it damage the color (or base coat)?
2. Also How far from the peeling coat should I sand?
3. Do I sand on exposed base coat or avoid sanding it and only sand clear coat?
