Window goes down but not up.

I have a 2008 Honda Civic 4-door, and the passenger side power front window will roll down, but not up. The window will power down if you use the toggle switch on either the driver side, or the passenger side, but will not roll up using the button from either the drivers or passenger side. This seems to eliminate the toggle switches on either door as the source of the problem. Since they will power down, this also seems to eliminate the possibility that a fuse is blown, or that the motor is not working. Additionally, the window will sometimes come up when either the passenger or driver side toggle switch is activated, but this is sporadic at best. Also, when the window is rolling down, it seems to do so smoothly, and not give any hint that the cabling on the inside of the door has come loose, is frayed, or is not functioning properly. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Window goes down but not up.

I was just outside checking for a broken wire when you posted the question. Strangely, we held the rocker switch up while wiggling the wires between the car and the door to see whether the window would go up, but nothing happened... Except that after wiggling the wires, the window would no longer go down either. Since it is improbable that I somehow broke a second wire while wiggling them, I can only assume that I somehow blew the fuse while jiggling the wires. Now I have to look up the fuse diagram to find the correct fuse for the front passenger window. I will post again once I find out.

On a side note, if it looks like a wire is broken inside the rubber boot, I can only assume that I will have to disconnect the wires from the motor in order to pull the wires back through the door in order to slide the rubber boot off and inspect the wires? As it stands now, you can't slide the rubber boot to the left or right to inspect the wires running through it.

Rereading your reply Colin, I realized that you were asking about the wiring harness, not where the wires passed through the boot between the car body and the door. I haven't removed the door panel to inspect the motor and harnesses yet, It looks like that will be my next step after checking the fuse.
