Have 2008 civic, locked up one day, steering wheel and key would not turn, had new key module installed. Mechanic said he would fix it back like original. When I picked up car, payed him, he said key in car and here are your fobs. Well I was in a hurry so cranked car and left. He closed for vacation the week of the 4th July. Next week went back and he was gone and the lady said she did not know when he would be back. BOTTOM line the new keys don’t have a chip and can’t lock doors, windows don’t work and the horn and lites go off and on. Need help, can’t find way to program old keys.

Tried that. My problem is the keys that came with the new key module do not have a chip, just standard keys with no buttons to lick on. The mechanic screwd me. Car runs and drives. Just can’t lock, unlock or do windows and found no way to program old keys. Thanks for your reply.

You could still program the old key fobs and just use the new key for the ignition.

Tried that but the YouTube’s videos I found you have to a fob key to turn the ignition on and click on lock or unlock, wait a second turn keyof and repeat several times.we have a locksmith in town and tried to program my Forbes but no luck. Honda dealer is 50 miles away and is VERY proud of there work.

Any reason you repeated yourself 4 times? You have chips in the keys otherwise the car wouldnt start. You might need to buy new remotes/fobs

One of the YouTube videos shows doing that, but that guy had a program key in the ignition so he did that process and his other key fobs were programmed I have tried 5-6 different videos and none has worked. Not having a programmed fob is the main problem. Thank you for you reply.

The 2 keys that came with new module does not have a chip. I have opened the key’s trying to find a chips. One video shows the location of the chips on these type keys( not with places to click ——like lock or unlock which is what the video shows.

the chip in the key are anti-theft.
the fob is to lock/unlock doors, keep in mind they are different things.

You know any way to program the fobs with out having to do with having to cleck on the different areas of the fob. Thanks for your info.
