Any way to bypass the vehicle maintenance reminder?
Any way to bypass the vehicle maintenance reminder?
I may be the only one stupid enough to try to 'upgrade' my daughter's DX to power locks. To do so, I had to install new (from junkyard) wiring harnesses and fuse block. All was fine until vehicle maintenance reminder light came one. Dealer says that there is no way to disable or bypass that system and the issue is that the instrument cluster does not know how to read the reset signal. I can't believe that this can't be turned off. Anyone have any thoughts?
Re: Any way to bypass the vehicle maintenance reminder?
No, the dealer did not give me any indication that there are any codes. They said I would just have to start replacing parts like the fuse block (and re-key the vehicle) and see if that works. They were really at a loss where to start but just said that because I upgraded from a different trim model, the not all the DX features would work as they didn't know what to do with the signals being sent through either the computer or 'system'. No specifics.

That's a strange response, but would not surprise me at my dealer...
There are auto parts places here, S. Fla., that will plug in an ODB tester, or loan/rent you one, that should be able to read the codes and give you a starting point. That maintenance minder lite usually means I need an oil change and the dealer resets is when they change the oil, the notification is generated by mileage since last reset.
