I've become yet another victim...
I am added as a statistic in the blown strut poll... both of my front struts blew, however i can't tell except for the leak. The gc's are good, but you can only go about 10k if you dont drive like i do... *this should be an obvious disclosure of willingness to be wreckles/daring/stupid, fill in as you will, anyhow..
I think gc's are good and love the ride quality, but I will be looking into koni or tokico shocks/struts to support my lowered platform, and recommend that when getting gc's you either do along with the gc's or within 6 or 7k miles or so...
So how long can I ride on a blown strut?
You cant tell it's blown, or I can't, even at 70mph curving, or weaving on the interstate, or taking turns at 5-40mph, but exactly what does the strut stabalize? what is the main purpose?
thanks for any help..

that sucks dude... you probably hear like... liquidy sounds when drive dont you?
i suggest getting new shocks soon...preferbly konis~
you could probably drive on a blown strut a lil but i wouldn't recommend it, cuz obviously...when something is broken..it's not safe.
just drive safe until you get new shocks.
- with konis...not only are you replacing the blown strut, but you always get a much MUCH smoother ride. trust me, i have konis and it makes a BIG difference in ride quality. i've had a lot of girls tell me that they love riding in my car cuz its not bumpy, lol..oh yea..and they love riding in my car cuz of me too, LOL

If ur struts blew then ur car is gonna be ****in bouncy. My car was bouncin around everywhere until I got my Konis. I still think my car is a lil bumpy. Hmmmmmmm maybe its time I put some airstruts. Hey snort what kind of springs or coilovers do u have with ur Konis??

What exactly does the strut do? hey dave, where and how much were you konis? hocus pocus is checkin for me, ill call tomorrow, and ill tlak to a few other shops too, but where and how much were yours?
thx.. ill still pull into the car show with a blown strut... platinum *****.. lol
hmm... i do a lot of freeway driving, and i have trouble containing myself even when i'm alone just trying to get threw traffic, i'm a highway guy, one of those nasty weavers, but only sometimes... other times you wouldn't expect me to let you in or slow down, or be as courtious.. it's unexplainable.. lol
_______it is a blitz front, and thank you... I have octane sides and rear bumper to outfit the blitz... i liked them the best... got a couple other ideas, but i kinda need struts, and want an ex exhuast conversion so we'll see about for body work, but... my spoiler will be a low profile spoiler.. hoping to accent the drop and overall aggressive look of the car.. again, how much for the konis.. lol
thx again for your help guys..

Struts keep the spring from bouncing numerous times. What I mean is that when you hit a bump, the strut only allows the spring to bounce once, but without it, the spring keeps compressing and expanding until the energy from the initial compression is gone. Also, it keeps the tire in contact with the road. So it isn't exactly safe to drive like that, cause when you hit a bump, your tires momentarily lose contact with the road, and the control is gone at that point. Braking, turning, acceleration are all affected, especially with front strut loss. Right now it may not be too bad, cause you still have some oil in the strut, but as the oil is lost, the strut becomes more useless, and you get the problems listed above. Change it quickly and get your "crazy azz" driving like it used to again.
