Aight...when I was exiting on the freeway yesterday, I mashed my gas all the way....and my ride did not shift into the next gear (Yes I have an Automatic) it started to reach about 6000rpms and I let off the gas, and then it finally shifted into the next gear. Shouldn't my ride of shifted already, it never did that shiet!!! I'm kinda worried, if I'm mashin my gas a lil too much....and somethin may just be fawkin up. Please lemme know something...thanks.

If you push the gas 75%, yes then it will probably shift close to 6000rpm.

ak is right, if youre flooring it, why would it upshift before redline. That brings up another question I have for auto Civics, if youre flooring it, will the car shoot past redline? Also, when is the fuel cut?

fuel cut in neutral is 5000rpm
never tried holding it in second see where the fuel cutoff is.. but id assume its just a little above the redline
and when you floor it, it doesnt go past redline (maybe by like 25 rpm or somethin while shifting)

Manuals cut off at 7000, but I would think the auto tranny won't let you get there. I didn't even think the transmission would let the engine redline.... usually they'll shift a few hundred RPM before it.

AT will shift at 6750rpm no matter what. Your car wont go to 6900rpm and shift....never....unless...it's broken!

Yeah...I'm not goin to lie, but I mash my gas ( ALL THE WAY ) a lot!!! I just don't wanna fawk up my ride in anyway....! So I guess I'm gonna have to chill the hell out huh!!!! And I was exiting the freeway at about 60-65mph. So still not sure if I fawked up anything, but thanks for the info. I guess the mashin the gas thing has to stop....Daim!!! "ONE"

i don't blame ya for mashing the gas-pedal a lot since that's the only way our teeny engines can accelerate the car at a decent rate... our cars barely move before 4.5k rpms
u didnt mess up anything, its completely normal, like these people said, if u have it mashed all the way down(floored) it wont shift until u hit 6750rpm, its normal, since u eased off the gas a little bit, it shifted a little earlier...it should always do that...thats how autos work

Yeah...that's tyte for the info bros. And hell yeah, that's the only way our lil Vics will move....even at that...."Still slow" LOL Ok...question #2...does mashing the gas A LOT mess up the ride in time? I'm thinkin yes....but just wanted to ask. "ONE"
well over time, it will decrease the life of ur engine...but we got hondas, the engines last..the only thing u should worry about is the auto tranny. people have been sayin that they go out at 40k miles, thats if ur hard on it, mashing the gas is being hard on it, so limit it a little bit
