Door lock being retarded

okay... my door lock on my passenger side is not functioning properly... i have an lx coupe, if that matters any... but yea, the automatic door lock i use on the driver side only locks my driver side and not my passenger side... and when i trigger my alarm... the driver side locks but the passenger side does not... has anyone else encountered this problem?? my gf's parents drive an accord... and my gf told me that it had the same problem where the passenger side door lock did not work...

it worked fine until today... and i don't ever remember taking the passenger door off myself... the only time i can recollect the panel coming off was when i installed speakers and that was at least a year and a half ago... it's just odd that it would work fine and then crap out on me all of a sudden...

and by the way, i have extended 6yr/100,000 warranty... so if i take it to the dealership, this would be considered something covered under warranty, right? or would i have to be obligated to pay a small price to get it fixed?

Thanks a lot

i would think it would be something covered under warranty unless they can prove you did something when you removed the door panel. even if i had to pay a small amount to get it fixed it would be worth because that's going to get really aggrevating after while.

I'd say yeah, it should be covered under the extended warranty. But, since you took the panel off, it may be the plug that connects the electricity to the lock mechanism. If you didn't put it on quite tight enough, after a number of times closing the door, it may have shaken loose, not fallen off, but loose, just enough to lose contact. Before you take your car to the dealership and lose it for a day (or however long it takes them to look at it), I'd check that out.

If you can hear the motor, it's probably just a loose plug. Warranty won't cover it if the door was removed.
