HOW am I shifting wrong?!

Hello..

My problem is that when I shift gears (any gear) at or above 4000 RPM, something on my driver's side makes some kind of weird, and kind of hard vibration that I can feel through my clutch foot (as the clutch is to the floor) ..

About 2 weeks ago I took it to the dealer to check it out...the guy drives it and shifts at 6000 rpm, multiple times...and it's as smooth as when I shift at 3000.. So that leads me to believe that I must be doing something wrong, being that i'm new to driving standard, etc.. (I have only 5000 km on the car so far ..and thats my only experience with driving standard)

I've gotten some feedback, such as not doing "let off gas, clutch, gear change, .." as individual steps, but as one fluid motion, so as to not load the drivetrain with deceleration - because when I let off the gas it kind of starts "engine braking" for a bit, before I dis-engage the clutch... but i've tried clutching before letting off the gas and it hasn't seemed to have helped yet..but I may just need practice..

anyways..anybody got any thoughts on what i'm doing wrong??

also: is it necessary to completely push the clutch pedal to the floor? or can it be off the floor by a bit? I'd be curious if that would stop the vibration, or if I wouldn't notice it as much since the pedal isn't on the floor?

thanks

btw, I have an '02 EX 5-spd (obviously), totally stock

I am not sure about the vibration unless you are just feeling engine vibration that one normally feels throught the clutch pedal.

No, you don't have to push it all the way to the floor. I have always pushed it in just far enough to shift. It doesn't hurt anything and it speeds up the process a little.

First I would try it on another car see how that feels. Personally, the only time it does that to me is when I'm being careless and not giving it enough gas when I let up off the clutch.

It'll hurt if you don't disingage the clutch enough and gggggrind OUCH! I did that twice going into second when I first bought my car now its to the floor everytime. I hate that sound, it feels like someones fingers on a blackboard ripping out your spine.

That's true, but it completely disengages several inches before it gets to the floor. I have always done it this way. After a while, you just know...you know.
