gear position short?

I was wondering if this has happened to anyone or they know what's wrong with my car. Okay, first of all I got rear ended a few days ago and I still haven't gotten it fixed yet (just gotten estimates so far) and then the day after I got hit I was driving and I noticed my check engine light was on and the D for drive was flashing and everytime I would come to a complete stop I would hear a clunking noise. I continued driving but then later that day I brought it to the Honda Dealership. They took it then later on they called and said that the code said it had something to do with my aftermarket alarm and that it's wired in the wrong spot and that I need to take it back to where I bought it and have them wire it somewhere else. I thought that was wierd because I've had the alarm for over 2 years so if it was wired in the wrong spot something would have happened already. Then honda reset the check engine light, but then when I picked up my car the light came back on again. Then I took it to the alarm place and they checked it and said that nothings wrong with it. So now the D for drive doesnt flash anymore and theres no more clunking noise, but the check engine light is still on. The code that Honda got when they checked the check engine light was some code and then "gear position short"...So that doesn't seem like that would have anything to do w/the alarm...So does anyone know what could be wrong?

Sounds like an electrical problem to me. Probably why they blamed it on the alarm. I would just take it back to the dealer and let them pull the code(s) again. The hit in the rear may have messed up some connections or something.

a friend had the same thing happen a couple saturdays ago...

so far honda is giving her the run around....

one dealer gave her a list of parts that needs to be replaced but didn't fix her car cause she was on vacation and was leaving for home. the hometown dealer claimed nothing was wrong. she had her alarm disconnected but she still has probs...

btw, she said she's now getting only 200km per tank of gas...
