ak can only hope to improve
call honda, they might fix it under "good will"

New tranny should be below $1200 w/ labor.

Check around for prices at other shops, because the dealer is quoting you for a brand new tranny when you might find a shop that will rebuild it for much less. Plus dealers no matter what you have done are way over priced.

Sadly, this is not uncommon. Seems everytime I check VI/P someone has lost another auto.

is it jus auto trannies that are giving problems? cuz i don't hear too much about the manual trans giving ppl problems. man, if that's true, i'm seriously thinking about changing my auto trans to manual. but not jus for that reason... i've always wanted a manual. has anyone (or anyone you know) ever done this kind of swap?

That's what I'd do if I had the problem, thankfully I don't like autos.

WOW!! Honda is out of their mind! Look through the yellow pages and call a few tranny shops and see what they charge for a re-build. I bet it will be at least $1000 cheaper.

I think the reason why the Auto tranny's keep going out is because the people driving them are pretty hard on the transmissions, brake torquing, and "auto drops" are very hard on these transmissions, while doing a clutch drop wear a manual that much.

I feel my tranny going too. But it's not serious enough as of yet.

Sorry about your car man. But 4000miles over Honda won't do jack about it. If it were something like 40 miles over then yeah. But man that just sucks.

I got extended warranty on my car, I can't remember if tranny's are covered under that?

i have an auto and it's still fine... still feels kinda strong... except sometimes it kinda "slips" but other than that... it feels okay i have 48,000 and it's a little less than 2 years old... and besides i don't think warranty covers it cuz wouldn't it be under wear and tear?

61k miles on my hard driven automatic 2001 LX w/17in chrome wheels 215/45/17 no problems.. ok... one problem, but it has always done it from 1 mile

when I'm slowing down going down a hill, around 40mph, the tranny downshifts weird to 2nd gear all by itself.. I checked fluid levels... Other than that.. nothing wrong at all.. smooth shifting. I rarely downshift.. (drilled/slotted rotors) for that
