Water And CAI
Searched the forums, but didn't find any detailed information that I was looking for. I have Injen's CAI (RD1565 or something) and I went through a puddle that was a lot deeper than I thought. I lost a lot of power and had a hard time accelerating. I didn't floor it. I pushed it a little and didn't do anything. Can't remember all the details, because I was freaked out. I regained all power after a little while. Came up to a stop light, put it in N, and floored it for a while (4-5k). Everything seems ok now. Is there anything I need to check out or worry about? One time thing?
Thanks!
BTW: It's not supposed to rain in California!!!

I would have your engine checked, sounds like you may have gotten some water in there which is bad, i'm sure you know. but if your car is running ok now then, then i guess if ity ain't broke, don't fix it!!!

I've done some searching as well, but I want to make sure that I am perfectly clean on this aspect. From what I have read, it's said that if you have a cai, I have an AEM system, with out a bypass valve..... you are okay as long as the filter does not become COMPLETELY submerged in water. So my understanding would be that if water is being splashed onto the filter from the tires, that this is not a problem. Am I correct in saying this? I work in Cerritos, CA.... and right now it's coming down pretty hard right so I just wanted to be clear on this issue. It don't rain to often here in Cali, so we don't usually have to deal with these issues.

I'm in San Diego, CA and its raining pretty hard here, too. I just got done converting my AEM CAI to a short ram because I've been hearing some odd noises these last two days (while driving in the rain) that scared the pants off me. When driving around occasionally I hear a gurgling sound...almost a hard rattle...coming from the front pasenger side...about where the filter is...so i fugured just to be safe, I'd take the second leg of the CAI off till the rain stops. I did have the bypass installed, too....the noise just scared me. any idea if it really was the filter? it didnt feel wet just now.

Its normal, well actually not normal but quite a few 7thgens have had that problem. It's not the CAI so you can re-install it.
I believe there was a thread about it; however, it appears to have been archived.
Honda attempts to fix the problem
see third item down on the left.
notice I said attempt. I had the same problem took my 02 Civic Sedan LX to my local Honda dealer showed them the article and they ordered and installed the replacement exhaust pipe. Now several months and one large puddle later I still have the noise/vibration. So now what do I do?
