rpm's jumping

I dont know why but all the sudden I was driving my car around today and my rpm's were jumping around alot. When I would stop at a light it would shoot down under 500 and sound like it was about to die and then all the sudden shoot back up to almost 1000. When that happened the engine sounded like it bogged down quite a bit like it was about to die, never did though. Is there anything I can do or is it just a weird one time thing.

my car does it to but i know what mine is. Do you have any performance parts on your car such as intake or have your changed your spark plugs? Our cars our supposed to run 9a platnium plugs but if you are running nitrous you can not run those plugs they will burn the tips! So i run a 7a plug for nitrous and this is way to cold of a plug for our cars and it will cause the rpms to be irregular because the computer is trying to keep the plug temp up! But if you are running stock plugs its probs time to change them because our stupid as* ignition systems. there is not much you can do yet because as far as i know there is not a hotter ignition coil out yet, exept make sure that your plugs are good and clean!

Mine does the same thing, I've had a CAI on it, upon which installing I also put fresh OEM platinum plugs in the car. Took it to the dealer and they tried to tell me I didn't let the computer "re-learn the idle" so I did it again there for them. They said they couldn't do anything until it sets a code with the computer, and sent me on my way.

*crosses fingers for the CEL to come on*
