small part of wheel rusting

my right rear wheel slid and hit the curb slightly denting the hubcap and chipping off a bit of paint on my steely... two weeks ago and i noticed that this small part where the paint was chipped off, rust has started to develop... what do i do? this morning i panicked it sprayed the spot with a little wd40 hoping it'll stop the rust from spreading...

I would just get a piece of sand paper and clean the area that is rusted until you see the are free of rust clean it good so all that wd40 is gone and the paint will stick. then go at it with a little semi gloss black spray paint. Don't go sanding the whole wheel, but just the area that chipped. no big deal, it doesn't have to be that pretty, as the hub cap will cover it up.

You could do with what djmota stated. Just sand the rust away and put some paint on it. However, it would probably be 10 yrs before that rust did any real damage imo..

If it really bothers you that much just go buy a new steel wheel. It shouldn't cost you more than $30-40.
