removing shift ****

I checked out the DIY on how to remove the shfit ****, but I'm still having trouble. I can't seem to get the boot unlatched so I can get the **** off. Has anyone removed their shift **** and if so, how did you find the notches underneath the metal ring?

I just squeezed it between my thumb and forefinger and kinda put more pressure on my thumb. Doing so made one side unlatch first and it comes off real easy. Just squeeze and pull downward.

hey to be honest it doesnt matter the pressure you apply on your fingers.....i know it sounds a little scary cause you are afraid you might break it...but its like a body panel with clips....just hold the grey plastic ring and pull down hard..it will just pop off. And then from there to clip it back in there are 2 large grooved clips that only fit in one way. You just slide it in and it will lock in
