I've had no problems with my stock deck and CD-r's, and even in the cold here in MN. I've used Imation, PNY, and now I have Fuji. I pick up whichever ones i can get for cheap. I've heard that it could be because they might have been burned too fast?

I never had any problems reading burned cds.........of course I only played on CD-R in the player as I drove the car off the lot and over to Custom Car Stereo to have them install my deck and soundsystem.

You know what I heard from one of my friends about this...he said put a piece of clear tape on the top of the disc...said it had something to do with the weight of the cd or something as stupid as that sounds...

Believe it or not, one of the Civic TSBs has a short statement about this, which means you're not the only one who has noticed this problem. If I recall, Honda basically pointed out that it shouldn't be scratched, and that the recording session had to be "closed." Other than that, you might want to avoid CD-RW discs, and also try experimenting with different brands, and avoid the cheapo, 50 packs of blank discs. In my old Sony cd player, only gold discs with the greenish back would play, but I hear that the silver discs with the bluish back are longer-lasting. It has to do with optics, which I'm no expert on.

As long as you are burning to cd-r disk only? Cd-rw can create problems.
Are you converting everything to wav files?
Do you use the same prog to convert mp3 to wav everytime?
Do you use the same software to burn everytime?
Are you closing the disk when you burn?
The temperture shouldn't affect what plays and doesn't.
Cd-r disk that have wav files will pretty much play in any cd player out there. If some are working and some aren't, something is different about the ones that don't work. Check the above stuff.
Also, what happens when it doesn't work? Do you get static or does the hu just spit the cd back out.
I used to play my cd-r disk in my car all the time (I have mp3 now) with no problems with many different brands of cd-rs.
Bottom line: It's not the disk itself...

I have the same problem. It's not that it happens all the time. Didnt happen during the summer. But it happens a lot now. It's when I leave a CD in the HU say overnight, and when I come back in the morning when the whole car is cold, it wont read the CD. This happens to me with non CD-Rs too...like regular audio CDs that I buy.

In what format are the files? Mp3, wav, or what?
If you are getting static the hu must be reading something. Otherwise, it wouldn't make any noise at all.
You may want to try a different prog to burn the files.
I use memorex, fuji, and imation. I have never had a problem with the disk playing in ANY cd player. You are using WAV files right?
Where are you getting your music files and in what format are they in when you get them?

the program i use, doesnt make me convert them to .wav it loads them and burns i know it doesnt burn that as actual .mp3 files or else i would be able to fit more than 80 minutes of songs. If i convert to .wav files will that fix this problem ill try it out on the weekend. Got around 150 blank cd-r's sitting around ill test a couple brands out
Nero converts during the burning process. You shouldn't need to do anything.
Try using your CD's in other (older) CD players around the house. If they work there, it's gotta be your deck.
Don't ever use CD-RW's. You need a special drive to read rewritables. They WILL NOT work in any normal music cd player.
