2002 EX Auto engine noise... should i

On my Tafetta White 2002 EX COUPE AUTO, the engine is making me uncomfortable, its making a rattling or "tin can" sound at idle and low rpms, and sounds weird with both windows down and accelerating. This is my first civic, so i was wondering if this is normal for the EX (since i dont hear it in 3 of my friends LXs).. like as you get on the gas you hear a hissing sound accompanied with a slight rattle.... my car is bone stock and has 1,200 miles on it. oh and if it helps, the engine kind of sputters right before it turns over in the mornings. Dont tell me thats normal. im kind of dissapointed with Honda. I appreciate all you guys' help.

No TSB scans for 2002 cars...but alot of the 2001 TSBs apply to the 2002 also.

It could be a loose heat shield if it is at idle. In any case, take it to the dealer, you are covered under warranty, but I am guessing heat shield. Is it especially loud in the mornings or when it is a cold start?
